Arusha is a city in north east Tanzania. It was the capital of the East African Community until 1977 and is a major international diplomatic hub. In Jain cosmology, Mount Meru is at the centre of Jambudvipa and coincidentally the second highest mountain in Tanzania is Mount Meru located at Arusha.
Although there are relatively few Jain families, the community built a Jain derasar having a murti (idol) of Lord Mahaveer.
