The Jainshala Derasar is the first Jain temple in Nairobi. In 1927 a small religious shrine was built and Fulchand Karamshi Shah brought a metal idol from Mumbai to be installed in the shrine.
On 22 August 1957 (last day of Paryushan) marble idols of Mahaveer swami Bhagwan, Adeshwar Bhagwan and Shantinath Bhagwan were consecrated in this temple.
Due to change in demographics, the Oshwal community decided to close this temple in February 2021 and the murtis have been moved to the Munisuvrat derasar.
